Coordinator of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries
Grace Casola, a Roanoke native, is the Coordinator of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries at College Lutheran Church who works to provide students and their families with substantive, meaningful Christian programming both at Church and at home. Grace recognizes that the declining numbers of children and young families attending church is a troubling social trend that indicates a disconnect with institutional religion in its current form. In this position, she seeks new and innovative ways to circumvent this problem and connect with children, youth, and their families to ensure that they are receiving the amount of spiritual enrichment they desire and deserve. Grace believes that strong interpersonal connection is the key to healthy student and family ministry and strives to form these meaningful relationships.
Grace has a heart for children, having previously worked as a pre-school teacher, an elementary school tutor, and a swim coach. She has also served as both the president of the Lutheran Campus Ministry and the Director of Youth Ministries at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Charlottesville, Virginia. When she isn’t working at College Lutheran, Grace enjoys working as a Medical Scribe for Carilion, tutoring high school students for the SAT and ACT, and exploring the Roanoke Valley’s offerings for young professional adults.
Grace is a 2017 honors graduate of the University of Virginia with degrees in Cognitive Science and Religious Studies.
